Remote Desktop and custom resolutions
0another little gem I find pretty useful.. yes.. I hate full screen RDP..
Create a remote desktop connection and save the profile. It makes a file with an .rdp extension. This file is just a text file, so now open it in notepad. The first few lines should look something like this:
screen mode id:i:1 desktopwidth:i:1015 desktopheight:i:715 session bpp:i:16 winposstr:s:0,3,0,0,1015,725

Personally, I prefer the one given in the comments… use the height and width flag in the command prompt…
an other approach is to use the command line switches /w:width and /h:height of mstsc.exe. so in your case it would read mstsc.exe /w:1015 /h:715 more command line options can be found using mstsc.exe /?
so thank you chad and martin

How to reset the Domain Administrator Password for Windows 2003
0Yeah yeah, you can keep on lecturing me about processes and blah blah and I will still ignore them. Recently in one of our setup it was discovered that nobody seems to know the password to the domain administrator account of the DC. The network guy who had set it up in the first place was long gone and either he didn’t give his successor the information or the successor was just as careless as me. Too add to the problems, the password to the local administrator account was also missing. Anyways so now we had a problem and as Yoda would have said “Find a solution, we must”.. so with the trusted companion Google, we did manage to find a solution to our problem.
As one of the requirements is password to Local administrator account so first that. Now that is one problem, which I have come across a lot of time in the past. And for that the answer is quite easy. The required software, complete walkthorugh, and FAQs can be found here for the same. As per the document, it has been tested for NT 3.51, NT 4 (all versions and SPs), Windows 2000 (all versions & SPs), Windows XP (all versions, also SP2 and SP3), Windows Server 2003 (all SPs), Vindows Vista 32 and 64 bit (SP1 also), Windows 7 (all variants). Some say also Windows Server 2008 is OK. I have personally used it for Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 2003 and it works fine. And as the document says there, it is best to blank the password. Once you have reset the password for the local administrator account, you can proceed to the next step here.
